Story & photos by: Constance M. Drew Round Rock, Texas When Bikers Pull Together Folks, May 2nd turned out to be a beautiful day in Alexandria Louisiana. It was quite impressive to see so many people come out to support the Squirrel fundraiser. Five Sponsors came together to honor a man that has given in so many ways to his community. Jerry “Squirrel” Langston founded the yearly summer Northern Louisiana M.D.A. Poker Run several years ago and has raised up towards a million dollars that has been donated. He served his country in Vietnam, and from what people say about him, just a helluva good guy. He has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and the funds raised were given to help he and his wife, Shirley “House Mouse”. An additional benefit in West Monroe on May 9th was also a great success in raising money for this cause. Brothers of Special Service served up mouth watering BBQ while folks admired the “Never Forget” Vietnam Veterans Tribute Trike put on display by Ed “Cowboy” Lewis of Ride of the Brotherhood. The afternoon brought on the live Auction all had been waiting for. With Woody and Josh working the auctioneering, over $2,200 was brought in from all the great donated items. I, myself, on behalf of Southern Steel, became the proud owner of a Harley Davidson Museum membership donated by Mark & Laura of Cowboy H-D in Beaumont Texas and a nifty sword to add as a conversation piece. The most amazing part of all was that five Sponsors and generous folks came together only a few weeks before this and worked hard to be able to give of themselves to Squirrel who has given to so many. Thanks to all who made this such a huge success! (Sponsored by Banshees MC, Lone Wolf MC, Fallen Riders Foundation, P.O.B. MC, Southern Steel Magazine) cenla12 ladies melissa (2) thegirls2
