Bikers Against Child Abuse (B.A.C.A.) of Louisiana

Story by BACA Opie

River Cities Chapter

A small child huddles in a dark crowded closet. With each sound she moves further and further into the shadows.  Her breath shallows as she tries to avoid making any noise that could give away her location. Her heart beats faster with every outside noise. As footsteps are heard from beyond the door she trembles with the fear of being found.  Suzy, a young girl of 4 is not playing Hide and Seek. To her this is no game. She is hiding from the words “I Love You” and what horrors of abuse will bring.  In the United States a report of child abuse is made approximately every 10 seconds. More than 90% of juvenile sexual abuse victims know their abuser in some way. Approximately 70% of children that die from abuse are under the age of 4.

Bikers Against Child Abuse (B.A.C.A.) exists as body of bikers to empower children that have fallen victim to the ravages of abuse. We work with State and Local agencies already in place to provide assistance to our wounded friends. We desire to send a clear message to all involved with the abused child that we are prepared to lend our physical and emotional support to them by affiliation, and our physical presence. We stand at the ready to shield these children from further abuse. We do not condone the use of violence or physical force in any manner; however, if circumstances arise such that we are the only obstacle preventing a child from further abuse, we stand ready to be that obstacle.  B.A.C.A.  brings children into their organization with the intent to take away the fear. When it comes time that a child may have to face their abuser in court B.A.C.A. is there. In knowing that they have family that will stand behind the child is able to say what needs to be said to break the cycle and put their abuser behind bars. We will provide round the clock security when a child feels threatened until that threat of fear is gone.

To see the light return to a child’s eyes is the greatest of rewards. B.A.C.A. calls it their “ Pay Day”. We are a 501 C3 Non-Profit Organization.  Each member of the B.A.C.A. organization, from its founder to its newest supporter, is a volunteer. All monies to operate come from donations by the general public.                Children are suffering from this terrible and often hidden epidemic of child abuse and neglect. Every year more than 3 million reports of child abuse are made in the United States involving more than 6 million children (a report can include multiple children). BACA’s mission is to end this epidemic one child at a time!
