On May 6th 2015, my life forever changed. I underwent a left below the knee amputation. I feared my days of riding were over. Little did I know that my true journey was just beginning. I am “IHOP”, a 42-year-old amputee biker from Lubbock, TX. I am a full patch member of The Messengers Clean & Sober MC. After my surgery, the two things I wanted for my new life was to walk again and ride. I took my first steps in Sept 2015, and climbed back into the saddle on a bike in Oct of the same year. Riding my motorcycles allows me to regain the sense of a normal life. When I ride, my amputation becomes nonexistent and my heart smiles. This past July, I was able to ride 3k miles in 3 weeks, all over West Arkansas. Happy, joyous, and free. Life as an amputee has been anything but easy. However, it is still in my blood to ride and i am grateful for my family and friends who ride beside me and support my desire to continue to see the world on 2 wheels. Amputee bikers are all over the world, and I am blessed to be a part of that. Amputee & proud. Ride on!
