When We Unite

Story & Photos by: Dixie Fortner

On October 4th The Governor’s Run raised over $23,000 for The Wounded Warriors of Mississippi. Over 600 motorcycles united together to ride from Richland Mississippi to Gulfport Mississippi. The escorted pack was led by Governor Phil Bryant. Families and well-wishers came out of their homes and business to cheer them along their way. After a stop in Hattiesburg, the riders were welcomed into the Gulfport Pavilion by hard working volunteers ready to offer their service to feed and rehydrate the weary travelers.

As tired as they may have there were smiles and laughter as the army of many colors was able to fellowship with each other. It was clear that everyone knew that a great cause had united them together and Southern Steel Magazine was honored to be a part of this amazing event.

If you missed this opportunity to “Serve Those Who Served” please contact The Wounded Warriors of Mississippi at and find out how easy it is to become a partner, to donate or volunteer to support our veterans and service members who have incurred injury fighting for our freedom.
